Foster Care
Welcome to the Foster Care section of the Family Law Center. Foster care is a method of providing complete care and support for children who are without (or removed from) parents or legal guardians, often temporarily but sometimes leading to adoption. This section includes articles about the history of foster care in the United States; requirements for prospective foster parents; how foster care is funded; what it means to “age out” of foster care; an overview of foster children with medical issues or disabilities; and related matters. See FindLaw’s Adoption section for related articles and resources.
